Beau’s wins Four More Great Taste Awards in 2021 Judging
Four more Beau’s Gelato flavours have been recognised at this year’s Great Taste Awards, bringing its total number of wins to seven over the past 24 months.
Joining previous winners Raspberry, Pistachio and Coffee are Strawberry, Chocolate Chip, Raspberry Ripple and Praline, which were each awarded One Star status during the 2021 judging process.
As with last year, we submitted our gelato in the same category as our dairy ice cream competitors – rather than in the plant-based category – and were delighted to see several comments about our ‘dairy’ notes from the judges – showing just how well our cashew milk base can replicate that all-important creamy mouthfeel that is the hallmark of a good gelato.
The Great Taste Awards are perhaps the best known independent ‘seal of approval’ from a consumer perspective, so we’re delighted that more than half of our line-up can now carry a Great Taste badge as a marque of quality.
Here’s what the judges had to say about our latest Great Taste Award winners:
Strawberry
“This gelato has wonderful strawberry integrity with a delicious freshness. Smooth and creamy with a velvety texture - you can taste the twist of acidity in there too. Very well made and you have drawn out a lot of strawberry flavour from the fruit – naturally.”
“Great looking gelato. Wonderful creamy texture which is giving an excellent mouthfeel. The strawberry flavour is delicate but very clean, fresh and fruity. A very well made, delicate, gelato, pure and simple.”
“This is a delicious product. The strawberry flavour is actually quite delicate, but it is true and clean and underpinned by a creamy milkiness. Sometimes delicate is good, and this is one such time.”
Chocolate Chip
“A rich and creamy yet light and indulgent dark chocolate gelato with delicious crunchy flecks of chocolate. Soft and creamy in the mouth with a lovely long finish.”
“Indulgent looking gelato. Wonderful creamy mouthfeel with the dairy notes coming well matched with quality chocolate to give a very enjoyable gelato.”
Praline
“Slight nutty hints on the nose, but the hazelnuts are very prominent on the palate with a rich and creamy texture, and only the occasional ice crystal. The hazelnut is rich and runs throughout the gelato, and the creaminess makes it quite indulgent too, without being too sweet.”
“A pale coffee-coloured gelato with some hazelnut notes on the nose. A smooth and creamy textured gelato with a pleasing level of sweetness, nuttiness and rich, toasted nut flavours. A most enjoyable gelato.”
Raspberry Ripple
“A colourful and vibrant looking ice cream. The raspberry flavour really comes through and is delightfully fresh. The vanilla bean flavour is well balanced. A creamy yet very refreshing gelato that reminded us of raspberries and cream.”
“Vibrant looking gelato. Excellent texture, with a wonderful creamy mouthfeel. The combination of flavours is working in harmony, the raspberries bringing a great fruity tartness with the dairy notes coming to the fore to give a classic enjoyable gelato.”
