Natural and Free From Gelato

Our Signature Flavours use a base made up of four (or five) natural ingredients:

Water + Cashews

The base of our gelato flavours is fairtrade and organic cashews, blended with water to create the rich, creamy taste and superior texture that gelato demands.

Unrefined Cane Sugar

Rather than using artificial sweeteners or additives, we use unrefined cane sugar to add sweetness to our gelato.

Unrefined cane sugar is less processed so it retains more minerals, antioxidants and plant nutrients that are typically lost during the sugar refining process.

salt (+ lemon)

We use salt (and fresh lemon juice in our fruity flavours) to slightly temper the other ingredients and create a beautifully balanced taste profile on your tongue.

  • We make all of our ice cream at our own fully plant-based production facility in Northeast England.

  • We use our own plant-based milk as a base for all of our ice creams – so there’s absolutely no cow content!

  • We don’t use soy in any of our ice cream recipes, or in our plant milk base

Ice Cream That’s Free From Common Allergens

  • Our cones and waffles contain wheat, gluten and soya. A couple of our online store flavours contain wheat – these are clearly labelled during the checkout process.

  • Our recipes may contain nuts and may also contain traces of peanuts and other nuts.

Because we use responsibly sourced, natural ingredients we don’t need to add artificial flavourings to make our ice cream taste like the real thing.

So with our Raspberry gelato, the taste comes from real raspberries – and the same goes for Strawberry (strawberries), Praline (hazelnuts), Mango (mango), Coffee (ground coffee) and every one of our flavours!

Unlike most ice cream makers, we use whole pistachio nuts (rather than an almond paste and food colouring!) for our Pistachio gelato.

This approach means we can guarantee a natural, delicious and, above all, genuine flavour across our entire range.

Why we use sugar in our ice cream instead of artificial sweeteners

Sugar is a crucial part of making ice cream taste good: adding body, keeping it soft and stopping ice crystals from forming. Most importantly, it adds sweetness!

A lot of industrially produced ice cream tries to reduce the amount of sugar used by introducing artificial, non-nutritional additives, which are arguably worse for you than sugar.

At Beau’s we refuse to use overly processed ingredients and artificial sweeteners; instead, we make all of our gelato from scratch using natural ingredients and organic-certified cane sugar.

This means we can guarantee that we are using the best quality, responsibly sourced ingredients.

Why we use natural ingredients in our ice cream

The ice cream world is a murky business, with many manufacturers taking shortcuts and tricks to replicate the taste of natural ingredients without actually using them (and boosting their profit margins in the process).

Using natural ingredients also gives us complete oversight of our ingredient supply chain, allowing us to source sustainably and ethically and ensure that only the best quality produce ends up in our gelato.

The only food stabiliser that we put into our ice cream is guar gum, which is a natural fibre extracted from guar beans. This is added to our gelato in order to prolong freezer life and improve the quality of the finished product.
